Caring for the Environment

The Green TV

We care about the environment. We understand our responsibility to reduce our ecological impact on the world. So we’ve done something about it.  In 2007, we launched a ground breaking programme: Purple Goes Green.  Why the name? Well purple is our namesake colour and green is the colour of the future – so it was a natural fit. Cadbury’s environmental programme has been in place for nearly 15 years and corporate responsibility has always been at the heart of our business.

Purple Goes GreenPurple Goes Green is our absolute commitment to action on climate change and we are one of the first food companies to announce such strict objectives. We intend to shrink our global environmental footprint by cutting energy use, reducing excess packaging and managing water use. Specifically, we have set out to:

  1. Energy: Achieve a 50% reduction in our ‘absolute’ carbon emissions
  2. Packaging: Achieve a 10% reduction in packaging and a more stretching target of 25% for seasonal and gift ranges
  3. Water: Implement water reduction programs at all ‘water scarce’ sites

We’re serious about these commitments and we’re tracking our results closely. Hey, we even made some cute videos too to tell our Purple Goes Green story.
