We are almost 200 years young with a heritage tracing back to 1825. Our fascinating story is one of a small family business, led by a world-class innovator, combined with technical inventions, secret recipes, market savvy and the development of great brands. And so it goes a little like this.
In 1824, John Cadbury opened a shop in Birmingham, UK. He started off with tea and coffee but moved onto chocolate beverages and eventually into confectionery. It started with a mortar and pestle and today Cadbury is not only the name on the door but the brand of our chocolate.
We’ve grown along the way. From acquisitions to demergers – we have a rich heritage that we’re really quite proud of. Cadbury’s business was founded on strong values and a sense of social responsibility. In the beginning Cadbury campaigned for justice, equality and social reform and even advocated for the anti-slave movement.

In 2007, the decision was made to separate the beverage and confectionery businesses. The demerger of the Americas beverage business on May 7, 2008, marking the beginning of a new era for Cadbury and the kick off of our vision: To be the biggest and best confectionery company in the world.
We are Cadbury
